Ontario English Catholic Teachers

Legal Counsel

Teachers sometimes face investigations by the Children’s Aid Society (CAS), the police, the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), and/or the Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC), following allegations of abuse, professional misconduct, or discrimination.

If you are facing an allegation of unprofessional conduct, or you are having other difficulties arising out of the performance of your duties as a teacher, we may investigate the matter and, where appropriate, provide legal advice. The provision of legal counsel is at the discretion of the Provincial Executive, as per the Association’s Handbook.

It is very important for you to seek direction from the Association as soon as you are aware of any investigation or allegation of misconduct, and most especially if you are contacted by the police or CAS.

Contact the Counselling and Member Services department at 416-925-2493 or 1-800-268-7230.
